Col. Pete 'Tex Travis
"Peter Travis, of Withernsea, has done tremendous work, over the years, fundraising by the use of his 'San Antonio Sound' -an all- country and western record show"

Brian Winchester
Clubland, Hull Daily Mail, 1983

Peter started in the disco business in the early seventies when he became a resident disc-jockey for the staff social club at a local hospital before moving further afield-playing other popular venues in the Holderness area.
And it was this experience that got him involved with the country music scene and meeting up with the top local C and W artistes, that encouraged Peter to make the decision to present a strictly C and W recordshow.

With the assistance of his friend and colleague Tex Milne, a presenter at BBC Radio Humberside, Peter became known as 'the only mobile DJ to present a strictly country and western recordshow'.

Under the banner 'The Alamo Country Music Promotions', Peter Travis and his San Antonio Sound became the pioneer of the continuity style of C and W roadshow, sharing the stage with many artistes at various venues around the Yorkshire clubland scene. In 1994, Peter Travis, aka 'Colonal', was certified as 'an Honourary Citizen of Texas', by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, who are the custodians of the Alamo, in San Antonio, in recognition of his, than, forty-years interest and dedication to their state's history. During his 25 years promoting Country and Western Music, Col. Peter Travis has gained a reputation because his programme 'Country by Request' does reach those VIP's that other recordshows can't reach, the Country and Western devotees - The Traditionalists. Remember the ACMP motto... 'If it ain't Country it aint Music!' because that motto is our guarantee to 'Keep it Country'.
